Safety Manao, Life Banao

Humanitarian Welfare & Research Foundation in its latest campaign ‘Safety Manao, Life Banao’. Radio Network and Broadcaster of the year at Golden Mikes, 92.7 BIG FM’s Mumbai Station joins hands with the Western Railways The campaign takes on the most pressing issue of a large part of Mumbai that uses the trains to commute – not restricting themselves to inside the train but also atop the train and endangering their lives as they cross the railway tracks to save a few minutes in the daily rush to reach their place of destination. The campaign is an extension of its larger campaign on ‘Mumbai Manao, Life Banao’ which celebrates Mumbai. The campaign will see RJ Ankit hosting the breakfast show from atop a bridge at one of Mumbai’s busiest railway stations – Dadar from 7am to 11am each morning, until he gets a minimum of 9270 volunteers to support the cause and spread the awareness.
Local trains are Mumbai’s lifeline and given the recent spurt in train accidents, 92.7 BIG FM has taken up the responsibility to drive awareness in a unique manner through this campaign. RJ Ankit will be in his mobile radio studio at a key junction at Dadar Railway Station. His show involve – interviews with the authorities highlighting the challenges that they face, speaking to passengers on the reasons and thrill that they get out of endangering themselves, people who have survived accidents to share their story, those who have lost someone to an accident and so on. The show will also see a slew of celebrities visiting the mobile studio as a mark of support and encouragement to the campaign. Extending the campaign to social media, RJ Ankit will also get aerial pictures of people endangering their lives which will be posted on the social media network and which will work as an eye-opener for those who see them. Mumbai’s local trains are undoubtedly the lifeline of this fast moving city which carries six million people every day to offices, shops and factories. Even after addition of more trains to the existing fleet over the years, the trains still have to carry in excess of 1.5 times their capacity during peak hours which causes frequent deaths and major accidents amounting to 4000 per year on an average.
Listeners participates in the initiative by sending an sms to 55454 showing their support and making a solemn promise to travel safely.
